AtkinsRéalis, Balfour Beatty and Egis Road Operations UK are part of a consortium, creating Connect Plus Services, a partnership with strengths in highways asset care from finance through to design, build, maintenance and day-to-day operation. As part of our 30-year remit, we manage and improve the capital\'s orbital motorway network and deliver major projects, such as widening 38 miles of the M25, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing variable messaging signs and gantries to maximise network use and reliability.

Role

We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual with a project background to join this fast-paced team to deliver highways and technology schemes in the portfolio. Projects deliverables cover the full lifecycle from feasibility through to handover. Schemes range in value from £100k to £3m+ and include safety schemes, environmental improvements, technology schemes, remedial works and structure schemes mainly funded by Highways.

Your purpose:

  • Supports and leads collaborative relationships with the project management team and key internal and external stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding of project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with the DBFO contract, clarifying roles and responsibilities, resolving risks and issues in a timely manner, producing timely and accurate reports, and maintaining specified records including change management.
  • Liaise with and manage the design, agree and implement project plans, ensuring activities are organised to deliver objectives and adequately resourced to deliver outcomes.
  • Lead projects through feasibility, design and construction, informing investment proposals for clients.
  • Develop robust cost profiles identifying key risks and resource requirements. Commercial management includes cost planning, obtaining supplier quotations, reviewing invoices, forecasting and reviewing applications with the commercial team.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging risks and dependencies; escalate where appropriate and develop solutions where necessary.
  • Support performance of Framework Contractors and Designers, ensuring project objectives and requirements are understood, setting clear expectations for health and safety, time and cost, and taking remedial action where necessary.
  • Support delivery of sustainability activities including net zero and biodiversity net gain.
  • Work with the Construction/Supervisor team to ensure permits, certificates and site reporting are managed correctly and align with project needs.
  • Manage the P6 programme with the planning team, including identification of critical path activities.

What you can bring
  • Project Management experience, preferably with a recognised project management qualification (APM PMQ, PRINCE2, APMP, etc.).
  • Minimum degree qualification preferred and membership of an appropriate professional institution or working towards such qualification.
  • Broad skills and knowledge of Highway or Structures Engineering and related design areas.
  • Knowledge of CDM and other H&S and Environmental legislation related to Highway Engineering.
  • Knowledge of the NEC (New Engineering Contract) and other relevant forms of contract.
