Job description

We are looking for an Assistant Manager who will support the Home Manager and Deputy Manager in the running of the home and work in a direct care capacity on a day-to-day basis. Ensuring the home is operating to a high standard, including maintaining adequate staffing and implementation of staff training.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Manager and Deputy Manager in the running of the home in an efficient and caring manner.
  • Supervise staff and ensure that the home is operating to a high standard.
  • Work in direct care capacity on a day-to-day basis.
  • Be responsible for the supervision of staff and for encouraging staff to work in line with the company's core values of Commitment, Connection and Compassion.
  • Support the management team with encouraging staff to work in line with the Company's core values of Commitment, Connection and Compassion, by demonstrating these behaviours within all aspects of the role.
  • Ensure the home is operating to a high standard and acceptable to the requirements of the proprietors, the Local Authority, Social Services and the Fire Prevention Officer.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of staff training.
  • For ordering, recording, administration and disposal of medication system.
  • Maintain adequate staffing levels and correct mix of staff.
  • Purchase, serve and cook nutritious balanced meals suitable for elderly persons and present them in a manner acceptable to the proprietors.
  • Taken responsibility for fire prevention procedures, training of staff with regard to fire prevention and emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Liaise with GP's, nurses and other allied professionals.
  • Supervise cleaning of the home and maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Maintain records and control income and expenditure within the budget supplied by Head Office.
  • Take part in pre-admission assessment of prospective service users and attend call outs to ensure safety of the home.

  • Hold a clean full UK driving licence.

  • Desire to develop within role and consider working towards NVQ Level 5 or Registered Manager Award (RMA) or equivalent.
