The Glassworks, a Greene King pub in Cardiff, is seeking an Assistant Manager to help run day-to-day operations, develop the team and boost business performance. In this hands-on role you’ll lead shifts, deliver great guest experiences during matches, quizzes and meals, maintain high standards, and coach staff to progress in their careers.

Qualifications

• Ideally you have hospitality experience in pub/bar/restaurant and are ready to step up into management.
• Hands-on attitude, enjoys working with people and can help lead a busy pub.
• Strong customer service focus with a passion for delivering great experiences.
• Excellent communication, people skills and ability to motivate a team.
• Commercial awareness and an interest in driving sales and performance.

What's the opportunity?

As Assistant Manager, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day running of The Glassworks, helping to create a fantastic atmosphere, develop your team and drive business performance.

• Lead from the front: Motivate and inspire the team to deliver excellent service and make every guest feel welcome.

• Help run a busy pub: Support the General Manager with daily operations, leading shifts and keeping everything running smoothly.

• Create memorable experiences: Make sure guests enjoy every visit, whether they’re catching the match, joining a quiz night or stopping by for a meal.

• Drive business performance: Help manage sales, labour costs, stock and profitability, making the most of opportunities to grow the business.

• Develop your team: Coach and support team members, helping them build their confidence and progress in their careers.

• Maintain high standards: Take pride in the pub’s presentation, cleanliness, safety and compliance.

• Build a great team culture: Create a positive working environment where people feel supported, valued and motivated to succeed.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

Ideally, you’ll have previous experience in hospitality, such as a pub, bar, restaurant or similar environment, and be ready to take the next step in your management career.

We’re looking for someone who is hands‑on, enjoys working with people and has the confidence to help lead a busy pub.

You’ll also bring:

• A passion for hospitality and delivering great customer experiences.

• Strong communication and people skills.

• The ability to motivate a team and lead by example.

• Good organisation and the confidence to make decisions in a fast‑paced environment.

• Commercial awareness and an interest in driving sales and improving performance.

• A positive attitude, willingness to learn and ambition to develop your career.

Personal Licence

As this role may involve covering the business in the General Manager’s absence, you’ll need to be eligible to hold a Personal Licence. You don’t need to have one when you apply. If you’re successful, Greene King will support you through the process of obtaining your licence.
