Assistant Finance Manager - Electrical Contractor
Based in Maldon, Essex

40,000 - 45,000 per annum

We are working with a successful and growing electrical contractor to find a proactive Assistant Finance Manager to join their team in Maldon. This is an exciting time for the business as they transition from Sage to Xero, and they are looking for someone with strong Xero experience who can help establish efficient financial systems and processes from the outset.

You will work closely with the Financial Controller, supporting both day-to-day financial operations and the delivery of insightful financial reporting to aid business decision-making. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys streamlining processes, introducing automation, and making a tangible impact on the way finance supports the wider business.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the transition from Sage to Xero and embedding best practices.
  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cost control.
  • Providing financial insights to aid decision-making (e.g., pricing, cost-saving, margin analysis).
  • Processing supplier invoices, payments, and managing cash outflows.
  • Managing customer invoicing, chasing debtors, and monitoring cash inflows.
  • Tracking and reporting on outstanding debts.
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end processes.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Previous experience in a finance role, ideally within contracting, construction, or a related industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero (experience of Sage beneficial).
  • A keen interest in financial systems, streamlining, and automation.
  • Solid understanding of cash flow management and reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience.
