Job summary

ISS UK Limited is recruiting an Assistant Facilities Manager to support Hard and Soft FM across government buildings in the North East, split between Newcastle and Thirsk. You will oversee maintenance, compliance, and service delivery, leading site teams and coordinating with suppliers.

The role requires knowledge of PPM, reactive maintenance, and CAFM/Helpdesk processes, with strong stakeholder management and the ability to manage multiple sites effectively.

Qualifications

• Experience in Facilities Management/Assistant Facilities Management roles.
• Strong knowledge of Hard FM services and statutory compliance is essential.
• Experience working across multiple sites or complex FM environments.
• Experience supervising or managing teams, ideally in cleaning, Soft FM or facilities operations.
• Good understanding of PPM, reactive maintenance, CAFM systems and Helpdesk processes.
• Confident working with contractors and stakeholders; strong communication skills.
• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent is desirable.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Support Contract Manager with day-to-day delivery of Hard and Soft FM services across Newcastle and Thirsk.
• Ensure statutory, regulatory and contractual compliance across sites.
• Oversee planned preventative and reactive maintenance within SLAs and KPIs.
• Monitor CAFM docs, maintenance records, inspections and remedial actions.
• Coordinate and support site-based engineering, cleaning, catering and security services.
• Provide day-to-day supervision to employees, contractors and subcontractors.
• Monitor Helpdesk activity and ensure issues progress to completion.
• Identify service delivery issues and take proactive action to resolve them.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, site stakeholders and suppliers.
• Support contract meetings, audits and performance reviews.
• Assist with health & safety, risk assessments and contract administration.
