Job summary

CYGNET Fountains is looking for an Assistant Chef for a 6-month fixed-term contract. This part-time role (24 hours per week across 3 x 8-hour shifts) supports high-quality meals for residents in a care setting.

You will join the kitchen team, maintain strict cleanliness, and follow COSHH guidelines to ensure safe operation at all times.

Qualifications

• Passionate about catering, preferably with experience within a care setting.
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member.
• Polite & professional, with a positive attitude at all times.
• An excellent communicator who can liaise with people at all levels.
• Able to work on your own initiative and under supervision.
• Diligent and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks and other kitchen duties.
• Wash utensils, dishes and store them appropriately.
• Sort, store and distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean and hygienic.
• Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment in line with Cygnet procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
