Job summary

Cygnet Wast Hills is hiring a Kitchen Assistant to join a caring team. You will help prepare and serve meals, maintain high hygiene standards, and support a welcoming environment for people with learning disabilities and complex needs.

The role involves 40 hours per week on a 7-day rota (4 x 10-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm). DBS disclosure is required; salary starts at £13.15/hour with an increase to £13.45 after 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties.
• Wash utensils, dishes & store them properly.
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and help with stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and keep the kitchen clean & hygienic.
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment per Cygnet procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
