Job summary

CYGNET Joyce Parker Hospital in Coventry is seeking an Assistant Cook to prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals for patients. You will manage special diets, liaise with nursing staff and maintain kitchen cleanliness while ensuring COSHH and food hygiene compliance.

The role operates 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend cover. Applicants should have a food hygiene certificate, be capable of menu planning within budget, and communicate professionally with staff, patients

Qualifications

• Candidate should hold a current Food Hygiene certificate.
• Experience in care sector is preferred.
• Able to plan nourishing & appealing menus within budget.
• Strong personal hygiene standards and professional presentation.
• Excellent communication with colleagues, patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook & serve nutritious, balanced meals for patients.
• Provide meals for special diets and individual preferences.
• Liaise with nursing staff to meet dietary needs.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, service areas and dining room.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and food hygiene regulations.
• Handle, store and clean kitchen equipment in line with COSHH procedures.
