Kickstart your career as a trainee management apprentice – we are offering a new and exciting development opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who is keen to learn and grow. We are looking to recruit an Apprentice Management Trainee which will be a great first step to earn whilst you learn on the job.

We particularly welcome applications from school or college leavers as they are currently under‑represented in our workforce and support our commitment to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We also operate a priority interview scheme for people who are currently under the care of Torbay Council. For more details please see here.

This role will bring you to the heart of the Council working on a 24‑month fixed term contract, where you will rotate through three different placements across our Directorates. You will combine hands‑on experience with support from a fully funded CMI level 5 Foundation Degree Apprenticeship giving you the best of both worlds to build your skills while gaining a recognised qualification.

Your first placement will see you working alongside experienced project managers to deliver capital projects. These are long‑term investments in our town centres, buildings and infrastructure ensuring every project supports our strategic priorities in regeneration and growth. Further placements in Adult and Community Services and Policy and Strategy will provide a guided opportunity to further develop and apply your new skills with continuous support from your team and mentors.

We’re a vibrant community of passionate professionals where hard work is celebrated and rewarded with a generous annual leave allowance starting at 26 days, a flexitime scheme and access to an excellent staff benefits and discounts platform. We offer hybrid working – a mix of working from home and the office – to help you maintain a healthy work‑life balance.

You can expect full support from South Devon College, our education partner, and time off to study towards your qualification. You will also have access to our coaching and mentoring scheme to help you maximise this exciting opportunity and prepare for the next stage in your career.
