Job description
Overview

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and motivated Reporting Radiographer to join our Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) service. This pivotal role delivers high-quality bone density assessments to support accurate diagnosis and ensures excellent standards of patient care.

The post holder will report DXA scans in line with ROS standards and manage the day-to-day operations of the DXA service. You will contribute to service development, uphold quality standards, and support research and innovation in DXA and bone health.

Responsibilities
  • Perform DXA scans and provide training, guidance, and mentorship to radiographic staff.
  • Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to streamline patient pathways and ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.
  • Undertake the advanced practice role of independently interpreting and reporting DXA scans, including producing formal written reports that demonstrate specialist knowledge in diagnosis and management, while ensuring compliance with locally agreed standards, audit processes, and learning reviews.
  • Produce final validated reports, participate in audit and discrepancy review, and manage an individual caseload with accurate and timely record keeping.
  • Provide clinical support, supervision, and guidance to colleagues within the DXA department. As a Band 7 radiographer, hold management responsibility for junior staff, supporting their development through supervision, teaching, and mentorship.
  • Teach radiographers, radiologists, students, and assistant practitioners; maintain engagement in CPD and other developmental activities to support service quality and professional growth.
