Job description
Overview

We are seeking a Senior Lead Dietitian to join the MDT of the NELFT London All Age Community Eating Disorder service based within North East London NHS Foundation Trust. The role supports the development of an enhanced care pathway (Intensive Care Pathway - ICP) for eating disorder treatment, providing expert guidance and advanced dietetic assessment and intervention for children, young people, and adults with eating disorders. The service uses NICE concordant psychological interventions within a multi-disciplinary team approach.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage service users with eating disorders as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT).
  • Provide dietetic supervision and leadership of dietitians within the eating disorders team.
  • Use clinical expertise to develop and implement dietetic transformation plans to enhance the dietetic offer for children, young people and adults, including support for new and proposed pathways within the service’s transformation plan (e.g., ARFIDs).
  • Liaise with specialist inpatient units (SEDUs) and local Acute Trusts to maintain joint working and smooth transitions into and out of inpatient beds.
  • Attend and contribute to MDT meetings and CPA meetings for cases on their caseload.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the service and participate in planning and transformation activities.

Induction, Probation and benefits

NELFT places emphasis on a comprehensive induction for new starters. Induction begins on the first Monday of each month and lasts up to two weeks, including mandatory and systems training and equipment allocation. There are opportunities to meet the executive team and senior managers during induction in Rainham, Essex.

This post is subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt unless they are currently part way through probation or a bank staff member.

High-Cost Area Supplement: 15% of basic salary (minimum £4,714; maximum £5,941) pro rata for part-time staff.

Additional information

The post holder is encouraged to take on a leadership role with support from the Senior Management Team, Service Manager and Clinical Lead. They will join a well-established eating disorders service, assess and manage service users with eating disorders, and liaise with inpatient units as described. The role supports dietetic transformation plans and development of pathways within the service’s transformation plan (e.g., ARFIDs). The post holder is expected to participate in MDT and CPA meetings for their caseload and contribute to training and CPD opportunities. The service is based in Barking and has strong links with NHSE and access to up-to-date training in transformation therapies and leadership.

North East London NHS Foundation Trust All-Age Eating Disorders Service is based in Barking, with a focus on training and research and strong links to NHSE.
