What you’ll be doing
  • Fault finding and repair, planned maintenance and operating the mechanical equipment used to manufacture our products.
  • Fault finding on energised systems – including extra low voltage electrical, hydraulics and pneumatics, and power presses.
  • Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programming support to maintain production processes.
  • Planned maintenance on mechanical and control production equipment such as extra low voltage electrical, hydraulics and pneumatics, and power presses.
  • Knowing, understanding and carrying out the correct use of gauges measuring equipment and recording Statistical Process Control (SPC) data for quality purposes.
  • Knowing, understanding and carrying out the basic operations of a machine to:
    • Operate the machine safely and manage risk.
    • Set the machine.
    • Repair the machine, using common fault‑finding techniques.

The qualification you will achieve is:

Engineering technician / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education Pathway 12

To achieve this qualification, you will be expected to attend the state-of-the-art Academy for Skills and Knowledge (ASK) in Samlesbury 3 days each week during the first year; transport is provided.
