Job summary

NHS Professionals is seeking an Administrator for Sunrise Unit at Wycombe Hospital, High Wycombe (HP11 2TT). The role focuses on precise data entry for appointments and activities, welcoming patients, and acting as the receptionist via calls and emails.

The post is 22.5 hours per week (part-time) on a Band 2 pay scale (£12.92 per hour), starting ASAP with an end date of 31 December 2026. Training on Careflow and Microsoft Office will be provided.

Job description

Job Title: Administrator

Location: Sunrise Unit, Wycombe Hospital, High Wycombe, HP11 2TT

Trust: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust

Payrate: Band 2, £12.92 per hour

Shift Patterns: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday one week then Wednesday, Thursday, Friday the next week, already has one person doing this role, so alternate weeks with them (22.5 hours per week)

Duration: Start: ASAP End date: 31st December 2026

Systems: Ideally Careflow but training will be given. Microsoft package

Main duties of the job
  • Precise data entry for appointments, nurse activity, treatment activity etc.
  • Welcome patients, visitors and trust staff. Provide receptionist service via telephone, email etc.
  • Make, amend and cancel outpatient appointments as necessary.
  • Attend to patients on arrival and liaise with the medical staff to ensure that correct data is recorded on the Careflow system.
  • Register new patients and ensure patient details are correct.
  • Deal sensitively with large numbers of telephone queries from patients/relatives, General Practice surgeries and medical / administration staff at all levels.
  • Working together with the administration staff to assist in the preparation of clinics.
  • Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients who did not attend their appointments, either by telephone or letter in order to facilitate another appointment.
  • Arrange hospital transport and interpreters for patients attending the clinic.
  • Flexibility for covering illness/annual leave with team members, including cross-site cover.
  • General clerical duties i.e. filing, , photocopying, printing/ posting letters.
