Job summary

Brook Street is recruiting for an Admin Officer - Receptionist in Salford. The role involves welcoming visitors, handling calls and emails, and performing essential admin support for the Probation Service Directorate.

37 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday, with a starting pay of £12.71 per hour. You'll manage visitor access, security passes, mail, stationery, meeting room bookings and petty cash, while ensuring compliance with health & safety and data confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for visitors and enquiries, greeting people professionally and logging arrivals/departures.
  • Issue visitor passes and security fobs and inform relevant staff.
  • Direct basic queries to appropriate manager.
  • Support building logistics: mail, stationery, bookings for rooms/desks/parking, events and registrations.
  • Manage petty cash and travel warrants, and transport items between locations.
  • Assist with health, safety and security tasks including acting as key holder and monitoring alarms/CCTV.
  • Log faults/incidents and escalate maintenance with urgency
  • Provide confidential administrative support and scanning/archiving records.

Admin Officer - Receptionist

Our client is hiring for a reputed client in the Probation Service Directorate, providing a welcoming first point of contact and essential administrative support.

What you'll be doing:
  • Acting as the first point of contact for visitors and telephone/email enquiries, greeting people professionally and logging arrivals/departures
  • Issuing visitor passes and security fobs as necessary, ensuring the right people are informed promptly
  • Handling basic enquiries and directing more technical questions to the appropriate manager
  • Supporting building logistics: managing mail, ordering stationery/PPE, overseeing meeting room and hot desk/car parking bookings, and preparing for events/registration
  • Assisting with day-to-day petty cash and travel warrant processing, including transporting items between locations
  • Supporting health & safety and security: acting as key holder, operating physical security, testing alarms, monitoring CCTV, and supporting evacuation measures (including Fire Warden/First Aider duties where required)
  • Logging building faults/incidents, escalating maintenance issues appropriately, and making urgency decisions within guidelines
  • Providing confidential administrative support to operational teams when needed, including scanning/archiving and updating computer and manual records (some highly sensitive)
