Admin Officer
Location: Walsall WS1 3QE
Working Days / Hours: 37 hours Monday - Friday
Working Pattern: 9:00am - 5:00pm with a potential 11:00am - 7:00pm shift on Wednesdays.
Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Our Client is hiring for a Admin Officer within the Probation Service, supporting day-to-day business and transactional office activities while helping keep the building running smoothly.
What you'll be doing:
- Acting as the first point of contact on reception-greeting visitors on arrival and handling telephone and email enquiries professionally
- Logging arrivals/departures, issuing visitor passes and security fobs, and ensuring the right staff are notified
- Using tact and situational awareness to diffuse potentially difficult situations and respond appropriately if safeguarding/risk concerns arise
- Coordinating building logistics-mail handling, ordering stationery/PPE, managing meeting-room equipment, deliveries, and bookings (including room, hot desk and car parking)
- Handling day-to-day petty cash and travel warrants, including collection and transport between Probation properties
- Supporting Health & Safety and security-acting as key holder, operating physical security, testing fire/panic alarms, monitoring CCTV, assisting evacuations, and (where required) acting as Fire Warden/First Aider
- Logging building faults/incidents and escalating maintenance/repair issues in line with urgency and guidelines
- Providing confidential administrative support to operational teams-processing/updating records, filing, producing documentation/correspondence, and scanning/archiving sensitive data
- Supporting reception/cover duties during absences (training provided where needed)
What you'll bring:
- Proven proficiency with ICT-strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to refer more complex enquiries to the right manager
- A quality-focused approach-able to deliver at pace while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
- Confidence communicating professionally, including in potentially high-pressure situations

- Willingness to work core hours, including regular unsocial hours (evenings and/or weekends) as required by business need
