A leading NHS Trust in the United Kingdom is looking for an Admin Lead for its Respiratory Service in Bedford. This role involves managing administrative tasks, supporting the Service Manager, and ensuring service performance meets targets. An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and enthusiastic Admin Lead to join our Respiratory Service at Bedford Hospital.
The post holder will be responsible for a broad range of duties to support both the management and clinical teams at a strategic and day-to-day level. They will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the administration offices, working independently and leading the department through its daily operational and business demands.
They will contribute to ensuring the service meets all performance requirements, including quality and activity targets. This includes supporting the close monitoring of key performance measures—such as 18‑week waits and cancer targets—and escalating any potential risks to delivery. The post holder will manage the team of secretarial and administrative staff and provide support to managers, medical staff and nursing teams across the service.
A key part of the role also involves overseeing the management and booking of all Respiratory Medicine outpatient appointments, as well as taking a proactive approach to reviewing and managing elective inpatient waiting lists.

Support the Service Manager in overseeing different areas of the service, including organising outpatient clinics.
Ensure the smooth running of the service by managing day‑day administrative tasks and taking delegated responsibility for operational decisions (with appropriate training and supervision).
Resolve day‑day management issues, organising and reallocating work as needed in response to changes in workload or staffing levels.
Ensure effective processes and procedures are in place to monitor and track performance against agreed service targets.
Exercise delegated authority on behalf of the Service Manager to address and resolve daily operational issues within the service.
