Job summary

Saffery in Leeds is seeking an Accounts Manager or experienced Assistant Manager to join a client-facing, fast-paced team. The role includes advisory elements for a diverse client base and opportunities to develop supervisory skills.

Ideal candidates are ACA/ACCA qualified with practice experience, strong numeracy, and proficiency in Excel/Word. The role offers hybrid working and clear pathways for professional growth within the Accounts team.

Qualifications

Preferably ACA/ACCA qualified and several years’ experience in practice.
Strong numeracy and analytical skills with the ability to learn quickly.
A good knowledge of Excel and Word is essential.
Understanding of other accounting systems would be helpful but is not essential.
Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to organise your own workload.
Flexible, professional approach with strong communication to managers, partners and clients.
Natural team player with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Supervising the preparation of year-end financial statements.
Taking ownership of ad-hoc advisory projects.
Work planning and annual timetabling, ensuring internal timetables are met by juniors.
Reviewing VAT returns and supervising the preparation of management accounts.
Financial management and cross-departmental communication.
Building and maintaining client relationships.
Assisting in coaching and development of junior team members.
Experience of preparing year-end accounts using production software (e.g., CCH) or equivalent.
