Job description

Our client is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their finance team in Cobham. The successful candidate will provide essential support in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions and assisting with day-to-day accounting activities. This is a great opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and a willingness to develop their accounting skills within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and record invoices, purchase orders, and expense claims accurately
  • Assist with accounts payable and receivable, including timely payment processing and reconciliation
  • Maintain and update financial records and spreadsheets
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting activities, including bank reconciliations
  • Liaise with suppliers and clients regarding payment queries
  • Assist with preparation of VAT returns and other statutory reporting
  • Support the finance team with ad hoc administrative tasks as required
  • Help ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures
Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in an accounts assistant or similar finance role is preferred
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Discretion and integrity when handling confidential financial information
