Overview
Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join a leading Luxury Safari Tours Company based in Botswana. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across multiple lodges and the central office.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all lodges and the central office.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
- Reconcile bank, supplier, customer, and intercompany accounts.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
- Coordinate inventory counts and record relevant entries.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for each lodge and central operations.
- Monitor expenditure against budgets and provide variance analysis.
- Prepare financial forecasts and cash flow projections.
Payroll Management
- Process monthly payroll for head office and lodge staff.
- Ensure compliance with Botswana labour laws and PAYE deductions.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, and Company Tax returns.
- Liaise with the Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS) regarding audits and queries.
- Ensure compliance with Companies Act requirements and hospitality licensing regulations.
Supplier and Procurement Accounting
- Review and approve supplier invoices, ensuring correct coding and documentation.
- Maintain accurate procurement records for each lodge.
- Monitor procurement budgets and report on expenditure.
Lodge Operational Accounting
- Manage lodge-level accounting including expenses, petty cash, stock, and guest billing.
- Train lodge managers or administrative staff in basic bookkeeping procedures.
- Conduct regular site visits for audits and process reviews.
Cash and Treasury Management
- Manage cash flow requirements for lodges and head office operations.
- Monitor cash handling procedures and lodge remittances.
- Oversee foreign currency transactions and exchange rate reconciliations.
Internal Controls and Audits
- Develop and implement internal controls for cash, stock, and procurement processes.
- Conduct regular internal audits at lodge sites.
- Assist external auditors during annual audits.
Systems & Software
- Use accounting software (Pastel, QuickBooks, Xero, Great Plains, etc.) for all bookkeeping.
- Integrate lodge management systems (e.g., NightsBridge, ResRequest) with accounting workflows.
- Maintain secure data backup and adhere to data protection protocols.
Financial Analysis & Support to Management
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Contribute to strategic planning and new lodge development initiatives.
- Prepare financial reports for stakeholders and investors as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Registered with the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in hospitality or tourism accounting.
- Strong knowledge of Botswana tax and labour laws.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Pastel, Xero, or QuickBooks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel periodically to remote lodge locations.
