Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an Accommodation Officer to help prevent homelessness by securing safe, affordable housing for individuals and families in need.

You will develop strong relationships with Housing Associations, private landlords, letting agents and partner agencies, coordinate property viewings, and support applicants through the letting process to enable successful move-ins.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential.
• Ability to stay resilient and proactive in challenging situations.
• Experience collaborating with Housing Associations, landlords or homelessness services is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prevent homelessness by helping people access safe, suitable, and affordable housing.
• Develop and maintain relationships with Housing Associations, supported accommodation providers, private landlords, letting agents, and Key Choices.
• Monitor accommodation availability and coordinate property viewings.
• Support applicants through the letting process and help ensure successful move-ins.
• Collaborate with Homelessness and Rough Sleeper Teams and partner agencies to coordinate support and resettlement services.
• Negotiate with landlords to prevent or delay evictions where possible.
