Job summary

North Yorkshire Council in Harrogate is seeking a Temporary Accommodation Officer to manage the day-to-day operation of our temporary housing for homeless households. You will handle sign-up paperwork, explain occupancy terms, and oversee cash collection securely.

The role requires resilience, empathy, and strong communication. You will work within the Housing Service, with enhanced DBS funding, and benefit from a local government pension, salary sacrifice schemes, and wellbeing support.

Qualifications

• Experience in homeless accommodation preferred.
• Understanding of the Homeless Reduction Act 2017.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day running of temporary accommodation for homeless households.
• Explain occupancy terms at sign up and oversee secure cash collection.
• Ensure breaches of licence are resolved per policies and advise on Possession actions.
• Carry out housing management functions for temporary accommodation, including inspections, repairs and lettings to minimise vacancy.
