Job description

This is a part time post based at the (Clinical) Medical School Office, Academic Centre, Level 2, John Radcliffe Hospital. Model of working: 100% on site during the probation period. After probation, a maximum of 25% remote working may be agreed. Grade 6: £35,681 - £41,636 per annum (pro rata) We are seeking an outstanding academic administrator to become a member of the Clinical School administration team which is based in the Medical School Office at the John Radcliffe Hospital. There are approximately 185 students in each of the three years of the Clinical Medicine course, and teaching and examining is provided by a large number of academic and/or clinical staff, drawn from clinical and non‑clinical departments across the division. Students also attend clinical placements in partner NHS Trusts, and in primary care settings. As the responsibility for teaching and examining is shared across multiple departments in the Division, as well as the partner NHS trusts and primary care providers, the organisation of the course is more complex than for most other undergraduate programmes in the university. The role will involve:

  • acting as the Disability Co‑ordinator for Clinical Medicine students. This involves meeting students, putting teaching and assessment adjustments in place in accordance with Student Support Plans, and collating, processing and sharing information with the relevant staff at appropriate times.
  • administrative responsibility for monitoring Clinical Medicine students who are causing concern on grounds of health or welfare, or are suspending their student status for medical or personal reasons.
  • working closely with and providing administrative support to the Associate Director of Clinical Studies.

The successful candidate for this important position will have the ability to work systematically and to a high level of accuracy, with excellent attention to detail and good communication skills. You will need to be a self‑starter, to be proactive, and to be able to undertake tasks with a minimal level of supervision. You will need to have a high level of emotional intelligence. You will display a high level of personal discretion and judgement and have a mature and responsible attitude to your work.
