South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is seeking 999 Emergency Call Handlers (Emergency Medical Advisors) to be the first point of contact for callers in emergencies. You will collect critical data, provide reassurance, and determine the appropriate care pathway, including ambulance response or telephonic assessment.

The role offers full training in a supportive NHS environment with a 9-week training programme, and a fully office-based setting at our NHS 111/999 contact centres

Qualifications

• Empathetic and caring approach to callers.
• Strong communication skills in demanding situations.
• Willingness to work varying shifts including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Handle first contact when 999 is called, obtaining essential information and offering advice or reassurance.
• Enter caller data into computer systems and assess urgency to determine appropriate care pathway.
• Coordinate with ambulance services, clinicians, or alternative care pathways as needed.
