A regional healthcare provider is looking for a dynamic individual to coordinate the Intravenous Chemotherapy Clinics within the Pharmacy department. This role involves managing staff, liaising with clinical teams, and ensuring the preparation of bespoke medicinal products. Our inclusive and diverse Pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence in all areas. We have an establishment of over 100 members and enjoy an excellent reputation within the Trust where we provide patient‑centred clinical Pharmacy services to some 400 beds across medical, surgical and specialist areas as well as a number of outpatient clinics. We are innovative and forward‑thinking and have invested in a host of technical improvements, including robotics and state‑of‑the‑art dispensaries and technical services. The department is noted to be very friendly, and is constantly looking to develop and expand. This is an exciting time at Barnsley Hospital with the recent implementation of electronic prescribing bringing excellent opportunities for further innovation and service development.
We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to be responsible for the coordination and production of the Intravenous Chemotherapy Clinics. You will demonstrate strong leadership skills managing staff, problem‑solving skills to resolve stock ordering issues and communication skills to liaise with de‑unit and ward teams regarding patients and their treatment. You will supply and prepare other bespoke aseptic medicinal products, such as biologics and parenteral nutrition, to the Trust. Due to recent exciting developments, the post holder will contribute to the Trust’s expanding portfolio of clinical trials and will play an active role in the preparation, supply, and governance of investigational medicinal products (IMPs), ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory frameworks.
You will be responsible for the coordination and production of the Intravenous Chemotherapy Clinics (including those provided for Weston Park Hospital outreach clinics). This includes liaising with the Chemotherapy team to ensure that the clinics run efficiently and safely and in a timely manner, co‑ordinating and participating in the production and preparation of the IV Chemotherapy and resolving stock discrepancies and action drug alerts.
