Barnsley Hospital is seeking an experienced medical secretary to support the Trauma & Orthopaedic service. This demanding and rewarding role requires the successful applicant to work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and managing a diverse workload.
The post holder will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to a team of consultants, middle grade doctors, junior doctors, and nursing staff within Orthopaedics.
Previous medical secretarial experience and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred but not essential.

The successful applicant will serve as the primary contact for the medical team, disseminating information, messages, and inquiries, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and other healthcare professionals both internally and externally.
The role includes transcribing audio files using digital dictation within trust timeframes, managing follow-up appointments, and drafting letters to professionals.
Candidates should have good communication skills, be organized, and work well in a team. Flexibility and a proactive attitude are essential to maintain high standards.
The role is varied and requires proven administrative experience, excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office 365, high-level communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities. It offers opportunities for skill development and career progression.
