Job summary

Dorset Council is seeking a caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a named child within a school setting. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and staff to ensure the child feels safe, supported, and included in all school life aspects.

The role is term-time only, 32.5 hours per week across 39 weeks per year, with a fixed term to 31 August 2027. Salary £19,636–£20,592 per annum, pro rata and paid in monthly instalments.

Qualifications

• 1:1 support for a named child in a school setting.
• Ability to support emotional, social and academic development.
• Collaboration with teaching staff and parents to adapt learning strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a named child in line with learning and care needs.
• Support the child’s emotional, social, and academic development in class and activities.
• Work with teaching staff and parents to implement learning strategies.
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Assist with record keeping and observations as required.
