Job summary

Dorset Council is hiring a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a named child in Year 2. The role is fixed term until August 2027, part-time (11.67 hours per week) with a salary of £6,940-£7,050 per annum. Hours are 8:35am–11:30am on Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri.

DBS checks and safeguarding are required, with term-time scheduling. The successful candidate will work with the class teacher, SENCO, and staff to ensure the child is safe, supported and included in all activities.

Qualifications

• Experience with young children in a primary setting.
• Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification preferred.
• Excellent communication and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a named child in Year 2.
• Support emotional, social and academic development in class and activities.
• Work with staff and parents to adapt learning strategies.
• Contribute to an inclusive learning environment.
• Assist with record keeping and observations as required.
