Job summary

Sherborne Primary School is seeking a caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a named child during term time. The role focuses on emotional and educational development, working with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure safety, inclusion, and consistent progress.

The successful candidate will have experience with young children, an understanding of safeguarding, and good teamwork. The post is fixed term until August 2027 and involves term-time hours plus inset days.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children, ideally in a primary school setting.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• Patience, nurturing approach and adaptability to a child's needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a named child.
• Support emotional, social and academic development in the classroom.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and parents to implement learning strategies.
