Job summary

Dorset Council is seeking a caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a term-time role at a primary school in Gillingham. The post supports two Key Stage 2 pupils with learning across the curriculum, working closely with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment.

The role runs 9am–12pm, four mornings per week, with flexibility discussed at interview. Candidate should have school/learning support experience, be empathetic and collaborative, and comfortable working with pupils of varying needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a school or support setting is required.
• Empathetic, patient and committed to inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support to pupils across the curriculum.
• Assist teachers in delivering tailored interventions and learning strategies.
• Encourage confidence, independence and a love of learning.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Support students inside and outside of the classroom to participate in activities.
• Support students with emotional or behavioural difficulties and help develop social skills.
