Job summary

Dorset Council is seeking a caring, committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support for a named child with type 1 diabetes. You will work with class teachers, SENCOs, and staff to ensure the child feels safe, valued, and included in all aspects of school life.

The role involves 22 hours per week, term time plus inset days, fixed term until August 2027. You will support learning, emotional and social development and help implement individual strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children in a primary school or EYFS setting beneficial.
• Understanding of Type 1 diabetes, training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a child in line with individual learning and care needs.
• Support emotional, social and academic development in the classroom and activities.
• Work with teaching staff and parents to implement learning strategies.
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Assist with record keeping and observations as required.
