Lago is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering organization, shaping the technical vision and team culture. You will oversee an event-driven, microservices platform handling billing at scale, ensuring security, resilience, and performance across invoicing and metering infrastructure.

You will partner with Product to deliver a high-velocity roadmap, recruit and mentor top engineers, and drive technical execution in a remote-friendly, Europe-based environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles (Head of Eng, VP, or CTO).
• Deep experience with Enterprise billing systems, payments, or financial infrastructure (Stripe, Adyen, in-house systems, etc.).
• Strong background in event-driven architectures and distributed systems at scale (like Kafka).
• Proven track record of growing and leading high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced environments.

• Lead and scale Lago’s engineering organization to support a growing customer base and technical footprint.
• Define and drive Lago’s technical vision, engineering culture, and team structure.
• Architect and evolve our event-driven, microservices-based platform to handle billing at scale.
• Ensure security, resilience, and performance of Lago’s invoices and metering infrastructure.
• Partner with Product to build a high-velocity roadmap aligned with customer needs and market opportunities.
