Lever, Inc. is seeking a Tech Lead – Payments and Billing in France to own thePayments squad, drive architecture, and deliver a scalable payments platform. You will write technical specifications, review code, and guide a team through complex challenges while balancing speed, quality, and resilience.

The role combines hands-on engineering with leadership, coaching, and strategic influence across engineering, product, and management in a remote-first setup.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Tech Lead or senior technical leader.
• Hands-on leader who writes design documents and reviews PRs.
• Ability to coach and develop engineers while delivering.
• Experience establishing engineering practices from scratch.
• Strong communication to influence engineers, product, and leadership.
• Experience with payments systems is highly desirable.

Responsabilités

• Own delivery outcomes for the Payments squad and ensure high-quality software.
• Set technical and architectural direction for payments at scale.
• Lead by writing specs, reviewing architecture decisions, and contributing code.
• Solve complex problems with a long-term technical vision.
• Define the squad's operating model and balance speed with quality and resilience.
• Drive improvements in payment accuracy and processing efficiency.
• Diagnose blockers, manage sequencing and dependencies across teams.
• Coach junior engineers and raise engineering quality across the squad.
• Communicate what good engineering looks like and influence stakeholders.
