Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for the Protection team in France. You will design and build scalable backend systems for payment dispute management, fraud prevention, and risk automation, owning end-to-end delivery from architecture to deployment.

You will collaborate with Engineering and Product leadership, integrate with payments providers, mentor peers, and ensure reliability with monitoring and on-call readiness.

Qualifications

• Proven experience owning backend systems end to end, from architecture to deployment.
• Strong software engineering and system design skills for scalable backends.
• Experience building systems from scratch and handling ambiguous problems without predefined processes.
• High standards for code quality, testing, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Proactive, delivery-focused mindset with history of shipping improvements.
• Experience mentoring engineers and establishing engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in a remote, distributed environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain robust backend systems with end-to-end ownership.
• Develop automation for payment disputes, including notifications and workflows.
• Integrate with payment service providers and fraud prevention platforms.
• Design native risk management capabilities (velocity rules, blocklists, device fingerprinting).
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and stakeholders to translate merchant challenges into technical solutions.
• Contribute to backend development and support dashboard frontend when needed.
