The Institute of Earth Sciences (Grenoble) is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to work on the composition of natural layered double hydroxides within the ANR NaturaLDH project. Layered double hydroxides play a key role in the transport of elements such as C, Cl and S in ultramafic rocks between the Earth's enveloppes. They are also used in numerous applications such as contaminant treatment. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for developing a protocol for analysing natural layered double hydroxides by anion exchange and ion chromatography. The protocol will then be applied to natural samples to determine their composition and the conditions under which they were formed.
The successful candidate will join the mineralogy team of Institut des Sciences de la Terre (Grenoble), laboratory with approximately 300 employees. The project will be carried out in a team composed of specialists in the geology and mineralogy of ophiolites and engineers who are experts in ion chromatography and mineral synthesis. This multidisciplinary team is particularly concerned with the quality of working relationships. The project is part of a larger project (ANR NaturaLDH) focusing on the alteration of mantle rocks. The project also includes a PhD student with whom the postdoctoral researcher will be required to collaborate.
