Mercor is seeking a meticulous Malayalam annotator to build training data for handwriting and printed text. You will mark page regions, assign types, and ensure precise transcription of Malayalam scripts in diverse documents.

The role requires native fluency, attention to diacritics, and systematic work across multi-column layouts. You will be part of a bilingual QA process with a second Malayalam expert reviewing each submission.

Qualifications

• Native Malayalam speaker with full command of script and orthography.
• Experience with document annotation, transcription, localization, or QA for regional languages.
• Character-level accuracy is critical; diacritics must be exact.
• Apply a consistent taxonomy across hundreds of pages; avoid improvisation.
• Comfortable with unfamiliar layouts: multi-column, handwritten forms, diagrams.

Responsabilités

• Source Malayalam PDF documents with multimodal elements and record source details.
• Identify and bound every meaningful region (title, heading, paragraph, table, figure) with type and reading order.
• Link regions to their parent table or figure where applicable.
• Transcribe faithfully in Malayalam script, flagging unreadable areas.
• Capture page metadata and participate in peer review of work.
