Aldwych Consulting Ltd. is recruiting a Construction EHS Manager to support a major pharmaceutical capital programme in France. The role focuses on leading EHS management across live operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and safe execution of the 18–24 month project.

You will review RAMS and contractor plans, perform site inspections and drive incident investigations, while collaborating with project teams to maintain safety and operational continuity on site.

Qualifications

Construction EHS Manager - Major Pharmaceutical Programme - FRANCE

I'm working with a construction consultancy client looking to appoint an experienced Construction EHS Manager to support a major client-side capital investment programme in France.

This is a significant circa €350m construction programme, delivering three new production lines and substantial infrastructure upgrades within an existing pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

The project is currently in the execution/construction phase with approximately 18-24 months remaining. With construction taking place in a live, highly regulated operational environment, EHS is central to every aspect of project delivery.

The Role

As Construction EHS Manager, you will take a leading role in construction health, safety and environmental management across the programme, providing assurance, oversight and support to the wider project and contractor teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading construction EHS management and assurance across the programme.
• Ensuring construction activities comply with project requirements, applicable legislation and recognised industry standards.
• Providing EHS leadership to project teams, contractors and subcontractors.
• Reviewing contractor EHS plans, RAMS and construction methodologies.
• Undertaking site inspections, audits and assurance activities.
• Identifying risks and ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
• Monitoring contractor EHS performance and challenging where standards are not being achieved.
• Supporting incident investigations, reporting and lessons learned.
• Promoting a positive and proactive safety culture across the site.
• Supporting high-risk construction activities and ensuring appropriate controls are in place.
• Working closely with construction, engineering, project management and operational teams.
• Ensuring construction works are carefully managed around ongoing manufacturing operations.
• Producing EHS reporting and providing clear visibility of performance, risks and emerging issues.
• Supporting construction teams through commissioning, completion and handover.

About You

I'm looking for an experienced construction EHS professional who is comfortable operating in a demanding, technically complex project environment.

You should have:

• Significant construction health, safety and environmental experience.
• Experience on major capital projects within pharmaceutical, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, industrial, process, energy or similarly complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of construction EHS legislation, standards and best practice.
• Experience managing and assuring main contractors and subcontractors.
• Strong audit, inspection, risk management and incident investigation experience.
• Previous experience working within a live operational environment would be particularly beneficial.
• The ability to engage effectively with everyone from site teams through to senior project stakeholders.
• A practical approach to safety combined with the confidence to challenge when required.
• Relevant professional EHS qualifications.
• Professional fluency in French and English.
