Job summary

Mistral in Paris is seeking a Forward Software Engineer to build the systems behind hard AI problems. You will join our Applied AI team, ship agentic or GenAI software to production, and work with customer-facing teams to deploy reliable systems.

You will own end-to-end scope, design agent architectures, and collaborate across backend services, APIs, and UI. A focus on security, observability, and production-readiness is essential as you push the edge of AI engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production software and shipping agentic or GenAI systems to production.
• Strong full-stack capabilities across backend and frontend stacks (NodeJS/NextJS or Python/FastAPI).
• Hands-on depth in agent design: orchestration, tool use, retrieval, evaluation, and failure modes.

Responsibilities

• Build AI systems end to end from prototype to production.
• Design the agent architecture and interfaces between agents and target systems.
• Ship across the stack and enable patterns and platforms for multiple customers.
• Ensure system performance, reliability, and security from day one.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and customer-facing teams.
