Job summary

Mistral is seeking a Forward Software Engineer to build the systems behind complex AI challenges. You will join a team delivering agentic and GenAI solutions, shaping architecture and production-grade tooling in collaboration with customer-facing and research teams.

You will work across the stack, from backend services to the user interfaces, ensuring systems are reliable, observable, and secure from day one. A founder’s mindset helps you focus on customer value and real-world outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production software with at least one agentic or GenAI system shipped to production.
• Proficient in NodeJS/NextJS/Express/Fastify or Python/FastAPI; comfortable with TS+React/NextJS.
• Hands-on depth in agent design: orchestration, tool use, retrieval, evaluation, failure handling.
• Ability to ship across the stack and own outcomes independently.

Responsibilities

• Build AI systems end to end from prototype to production.
• Design the agent architecture including orchestration, tool use, memory, retrieval, interfaces.
