UST in Madrid is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a hybrid role, requiring heavy Java and Spring Boot expertise. You will join cross-functional teams, design and deploy scalable software, and participate in DevOps-driven delivery.

The role involves three days per week on client sites in central Madrid and a strong emphasis on automation, testing, and collaboration. Ideal candidates have deep experience with RESTful APIs, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native deployments (Azure).

Formación

• Strong Java development with Spring Boot.
• Solid understanding of SOA and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with Oracle SQL databases.
• Kubernetes, Docker and Helm experience.
• Cloud-native deployment in Azure environments preferred.
• Experience with GitLab, Jenkins and CI/CD practices.

Senior Software Engineer (Hybrid - Madrid)

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate within cross-functional Agile teams following a DevOps-centric delivery model.


• Design, develop, test, deploy, release, and monitor business-critical applications.


• Participate actively in code reviews and champion software quality best practices.


• Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver valuable solutions.


• Partner with Solution Architects to design scalable and maintainable software aligned with enterprise architecture guidelines.


• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and service-oriented solutions.


• Implement automated testing strategies using TDD and BDD practices.


• Deploy and manage applications in Kubernetes-based environments.


• Support CI/CD pipelines and continuous delivery initiatives.

Mandatory requirements

• Strong experience in Java development and Spring Boot.


• Solid understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and RESTful APIs.


• Experience working with Oracle SQL databases.


• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.


• Knowledge of cloud-native application deployment and management, preferably in Azure environments.


• Experience with GitLab, Jenkins, and CI/CD practices.


• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and automated testing.


• Proven experience working with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and/or Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).


• Experience participating in Agile software development teams.


• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.


• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.


• Knowledge of Avro serialization.


• Experience working with OpenAPI specifications.


• Familiarity with UML modeling techniques.


• Experience within financial services or banking environments.


• Passion for software craftsmanship, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement.
