UST in Madrid is seeking a Backend Engineer (Java/Spring Boot) for a hybrid role in Madrid city center. You will design, develop, deploy, and monitor software in a cross-functional Agile team with DevOps practices and Kubernetes-based deployments.

Ideal candidates have strong Java/Spring Boot, Oracle SQL, REST APIs, Kafka, and cloud experience (Azure). English communication should be strong. UST offers a comprehensive benefits package and career growth opportunities.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java Spring Boot, Oracle SQL, RESTful APIs, and SOA.
• Solid knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, GitLab, and Jenkins.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, Kafka, and Avro is a plus.
• Familiarity with OpenAPI, UML, and DevOps principles (CI/CD, testing, monitoring).
• Experience on Microsoft Azure and delivering software using best practices.
• Strong English communication skills (spoken and written).

• Manage deployments using Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.

Main tasks and accountabilities will be:

• Collaborate within a cross-functional Agile team operating under a DevOps model.
• Design, develop, deploy, release, and monitor software applications.
• Participate in pull request reviews and maintain high-quality coding standards.
• Work closely with business stakeholders and colleagues across different divisions to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Contribute to planning, estimation, and feature refinement activities.
• Partner with Solution Architects to design solutions aligned with the company's architectural vision.
• Build and maintain cloud-native, containerized applications.
• Manage deployments using Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
• Participate actively in software engineering communities by sharing knowledge and helping team members.

What do we expect from you?

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with: Java Spring Boot Oracle SQL RESTful APIs Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
• Solid knowledge of: Kubernetes Docker Helm GitLab Jenkins
• Experience with event-driven architecture and streaming technologies: Kafka, Avro
• Familiarity with: OpenAPI, UML
• Understanding of DevOps principles, including: CI/CD, Automated Testing, Monitoring and Deployment Automation
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
• Proven experience delivering software using industry best practices.
• Strong English communication skills (spoken and written).
