Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform, including APIs, resilience mechanisms, and AI-facing integrations.

You will design contract-first interfaces, implement durable event logs, and enable multiple ingestion patterns while ensuring quality and robust production support. This role requires strong collaboration across teams and continual learning.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of production experience with Python, with typed, tested, packaged services and APIs.
• Strong grasp of event-driven and asynchronous architecture.
• REST API design and practical OpenAPI experience; willing to work to AsyncAPI contracts.
• Apache Kafka or an equivalent streaming platform.
• GenAI-assisted development and fluent use of AI coding agents.
• Testing discipline (pytest, contract testing), CI/CD pipelines, Linux, Git and containers.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication; explain trade-offs clearly.
• Desire to continually learn and evaluate new tools carefully.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve the backbone — a Python service handling an observation / intent / outcome event taxonomy and a durable event log.
• Design and maintain contract-first interfaces using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
• Create the correlation and decision layer to translate signals into ITSM actions, applied once.
• Develop resilience mechanisms to keep services usable when upstream platforms are degraded.
• Support multiple access patterns: fire-and-forget, submit-and-poll, webhook, stream subscriptions.
• Develop event type registry and self-service onboarding for teams.
• Build GenAI-facing surfaces for agent skills and tool-calling interfaces.
• Modernize legacy integrations via deprecation paths without disrupting users.
• Own quality end to end: code reviews, testing, observability and production support.
• Participate in ceremonies and meetings with consuming teams to capture requirements.
