Job summary

AgileEngine seeks a Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform with APIs and AI-facing integrations. You’ll develop a durable event log and workers translating events into ITSM actions, while designing contract-first interfaces (OpenAPI/AsyncAPI) and implementing resilient systems.

You’ll collaborate across squads to modernise legacy integrations, champion testing, and use GenAI tooling to boost developer productivity in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of production Python experience with typed, tested services.
• Event-driven and asynchronous architecture with messaging and durability concepts.
• REST API design and OpenAPI experience; AsyncAPI exposure preferred.
• Kafka or equivalent streaming platform experience.
• GenAI-assisted development in daily workflow; strong testing discipline.
• CI/CD pipelines, Linux, Git and containerized environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to defend architectural trade-offs.
• Desire to continuously learn and evaluate new tools critically.

Responsibilities

• Build a Python service with an observation/intent/outcome taxonomy and durable replay log.
• Design interfaces contract-first using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
• Create a correlation layer turning signals into ITSM actions, applied once.
• Design resilience mechanisms for uptime amid vendor platform degradation.
• Support multiple consumption patterns: fire-and-forget, webhook, and streaming.
• Develop event type registry and self-service onboarding for teams.
• Build GenAI-facing surfaces for agent skills and tool-calling interfaces.
• Modernise legacy integrations with careful deprecation paths.
• Own quality end-to-end: reviews, tests, observability, and production support.
• Participate in ceremonies and meetings to align with teams and stakeholders.
• Take ownership of components or projects and document decisions.
