Job summary

AgileEngine, LLC in Spain is seeking a Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform, including APIs, resilience mechanisms, and AI-facing integrations. You will work on a backbone service handling an observation / intent / outcome event taxonomy, a durable replayable event log, and workers that translate events into operations on the ITSM platform.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of production experience with Python (typed, tested, packaged services and APIs).
• Strong understanding of event-driven and asynchronous architecture including messaging, durable logs, at-least-once delivery, idempotency, retries, dead-letter queues, replay and backpressure.
• REST API design and practical OpenAPI experience; willingness to work to AsyncAPI contracts.
• Experience with Apache Kafka or equivalent streaming platform.
• GenAI-assisted development; comfortable using AI coding agents and assessing their outputs.
• Testing discipline (pytest, contract testing), CI/CD pipelines, Linux, Git and containers.
• Methodical problem-solving and debugging across distributed systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication to defend architectural trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve the backbone Python service handling an observation/intent/outcome event taxonomy and a durable replayable event log.
• Design and maintain contract-first interfaces using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
• Build the correlation and decision layer that translates signals into ITSM actions, ensuring deduplication and exactly-once processing.
• Design platform resilience mechanisms to keep services usable when upstream systems fail.
• Support multiple access patterns (fire-and-forget, submit-and-poll, webhooks, streaming) for different consumers.
• Develop event type registry and self-service onboarding for teams to register events and handlers.
• Create GenAI-facing integration surfaces enabling agent skills and tool-calling safely.
• Modernize legacy integrations via deprecation paths without disrupting users.
• Own quality end-to-end: code reviews, standards, tests, observability, and production support.
• Participate in squad ceremonies and customer meetings to align requirements and constraints.
• Autonomously own components or projects and document major architectural decisions.
