Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform including APIs, resilience mechanisms, and AI-facing integrations.

You will work on an observation/intent/outcome taxonomy, durable replayable logs, and workers that perform ITSM actions. This role emphasizes OpenAPI/AsyncAPI contracts, distributed systems, and GenAI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of production experience with Python, typed, tested, packaged services and APIs.
• Solid grasp of event-driven and asynchronous architecture: messaging, durable logs, at-least-once delivery, idempotency.
• REST API design and practical OpenAPI experience; willingness to work to AsyncAPI contracts.
• Apache Kafka or an equivalent streaming platform.
• GenAI-assisted development with AI coding agents in daily workflow.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve a Python service handling an observation/intent/outcome event taxonomy and a durable event log.
• Design and maintain contract-first interfaces using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
• Develop a platform with resilience to keep services usable when upstream vendor platforms are degraded.
• Create multiple access patterns over an async core: fire-and-forget, poll, webhooks, stream subscriptions.
• Own quality end-to-end: code reviews, testing, observability, and production support.
