Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to own quarterly goals for the Repayment Scheduling team and lead engineers through ambiguity to deliver scalable backend systems. The role focuses on high-impact payments infrastructure used by millions of users in Europe, with a remote-first policy and Spain-based base.

You will collaborate across product, design and analytics, own operational health, and drive quality through code reviews and design standards while growing your technical

Formación

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Proven track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining a technical plan for delivering a significant feature or system component with elegant, simple, extensible design.
• Ability to make significant changes in a large code base with robust tooling and practices to enable safe evolution.
• Demonstrated ownership of personal growth, seeking feedback from team, manager and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with a global engineering team.

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design and analytics to articulate constraints and trade-offs.
• Proactively identify issues and lead in solving them across project, process, technology or business domains.
• Support operations and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics and supporting on-call efforts.
• Set or improve code review and design standards and advocate for them beyond your team.
• Mentor team members and lead by example to develop talent.
• On-Call Rotation is a requirement for this role.
