Affirm’s Merchant Data Platform is a backend service powering merchant data, identity, risk analysis and fraud detection across onboarding touchpoints. We’re a remote-first company with teams in Europe, and this role is remote within Spain.

You will own quarterly goals, mentor engineers, and drive design for highly available backend systems using Python or Kotlin, AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes, with on-call rotations to maintain reliability.

Formación

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale; proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Strong ability to synthesize complex business requirements into high quality system designs and software.
• Comfortable navigating a large code base, debugging, and providing feedback through code reviews.

Responsabilidades

• Own quarterly goals for your team and lead engineers through ambiguity to delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics to discuss constraints and trade-offs.
• Proactively identify issues and lead in solving them across project, process, and technology.
• Drive project definition, design, estimation, and task breakdown with cross-functional alignment.
• Maintain availability and performance of team systems; monitor metrics and on-call readiness.
• Mentor engineers to improve design, code quality and testing; contribute to team growth.
• Own the availability, reliability and performance of your team’s systems; participate in on-call rotations.
• Contribute to a sense of community through growth activities and interview participation.
