Job summary

Our client in Spain is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to lead accounting operations from a fully remote setup. The role oversees payroll, GL, AP/AR, and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with Spanish GAAP and IFRS while driving process improvements.

You will mentor the accounting team, manage budgeting and forecasts, support external audits, and provide strategic financial insights to senior management in a fast-growing multinational environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years in accounting/finance with a controller or senior accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP and IFRS.
• Experience with SAP or Oracle and advanced Excel.
• Remote work experience managing distributed teams.
• Bachelor or Master in Accounting/Finance; CPA/ACCA preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Spanish GAAP and IFRS.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and operational efficiency.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
• Coordinate and support external audits.
• Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements.
• Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to support business decisions.
• Implement and manage financial systems and software.
