A growing player in the organic food industry is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager for their Barcelona office. This role will manage supplier compliance documentation and audits to maintain rigorous food safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in quality assurance, especially regarding food safety, supplier audits, and documentation management. Proficiency in relevant tools and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field are essential. The role offers opportunities for remote work and requires up to 20% international travel.

Formación

  • 10 years experience in Quality Assurance, ideally within food manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 5 years specifically in supplier audits or related quality assurance functions.
  • PCQI certification or willingness to certify.

Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager

Overview

As we continue to expand our product portfolio and market presence we are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to join our Barcelona office. This role will be responsible for managing supplier compliance documentation and audits while supporting the broader Quality team in maintaining and enhancing NSI Group's rigorous food safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reports to the VP of Development
  • Manage supplier documentation including approvals, renewals and expirations ensuring compliance with company, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Review, challenge and maintain supplier documentation with strong attention to detail.
  • Review, organize and challenge food safety and quality documentation; maintain accurate records in internal systems.
  • Conduct supplier and facility audits, identify non-conformances and drive corrective actions. (20% travel may be required)
  • Organize and manage documentation renewals and non-conformances.
  • Support the Supplier Approval Program Manager, Director of Quality and VP of Quality in maintaining and improving company food safety and quality programs.
  • (Optional as needed) Assist the QC team with lab testing SOP updates and client/regulatory compliance inquiries.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and quality management systems (GFSI schemes such as BRCGS, IFS, FSSC 22000).
  • Proficiency with quality/document management systems (Registrar Corp, TraceGains, SafetyCulture or similar preferred).
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification or willingness to certify with NSI.
  • Proven experience with supplier documentation audits and compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with raw material suppliers, co-packers and contract manufacturers.
  • Exposure to QC lab environments including testing SOP development and client compliance requests.
  • Experience conducting or supporting facility audits.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Suite and other data management tools.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is an advantage.
Education and Experience
  • 10 years experience in Quality Assurance, ideally within food manufacturing and/or private label/retail with a minimum of 5 years specifically in supplier audits, food safety or related quality assurance functions.
  • Bachelor's in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written); Spanish a plus.
Work Environment
  • Remote work available but candidates must be living in close proximity to NSI's office in Barcelona for in‑office or in‑person meetings.
  • Candidates must be flexible in regards to their schedule to accommodate working with an international team.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% internationally.
