Job purpose: This role is designed to provide essential support and engagement for migrant populations within a reception facility. The primary purpose is to ensure migrants receive clear, accurate, and culturally appropriate information regarding available services, rights, and responsibilities. The position facilitates their initial reception and orientation, promoting active participation in decision‑making processes that affect their well‑being and access to services. By mapping local resources and organizing activities, the role aims to strengthen migrant resilience, promote autonomy, foster positive coexistence, and enhance psychosocial well‑being. It plays a crucial part in identifying emerging needs and contributing to the continuous improvement of services provided within the reception context.
Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include providing clear, timely, and culturally sensitive information to migrants in the reception facility, supporting their initial reception and orientation by explaining rules, services, rights, and duties. The role involves identifying and mapping local services (health, social, educational) to facilitate migrant access. It promotes active migrant participation in decision‑making and develops community engagement mechanisms to gather feedback. Ensuring beneficiary feedback is recorded, tracked, and addressed is crucial. The position organizes individual and group activities to build resilience, promote autonomy, and foster positive coexistence. It also works to prevent and mediate tensions or conflicts within the facility, reporting issues to supervision. Data collection and reporting on community dynamics and needs are required, ensuring all activities comply with humanitarian principles, protection standards, and IOM policies.
Education: Secondary school qualification is required. A degree in social sciences, humanities, or a relevant field is considered an advantage.
Work experience: A minimum of one year of relevant work experience in humanitarian contexts is required. Experience in coordinating and communicating with governmental authorities, diplomatic entities, and other stakeholders is also necessary. Prior work experience with international organizations, NGOs, or governmental institutions is beneficial.
Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to draft formal correspondence and project reports, strong organizational, facilitation, and presentation skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, experience with web-based management systems, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, high sense of professional responsibility, commitment to humanitarian principles.
