Organizational context: Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the UN agency for migration. It works with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners to address operational challenges in migration management, advance understanding of migration issues, foster social and economic development through migration, and uphold the human dignity and well-being of migrants. Job purpose: This role is crucial for the IOM's mission in Spain, specifically within the context of migration management and the protection of migrants. The primary purpose is to provide direct social work assistance and protection services to beneficiaries. This involves assessing their needs, identifying vulnerabilities, and connecting them with available resources and services. The role contributes to ensuring the dignity, well-being, and safety of migrants by facilitating access to essential support systems and advocating for their rights. By managing individual cases and contributing to broader protection strategies, the position directly supports the IOM's commitment to humane and orderly migration.

Responsibilities: The main duties involve conducting social assessments of beneficiaries to identify needs, vulnerabilities, and available resources, designing individualized care plans. This includes performing vulnerability assessments according to IOM standards, identifying protection needs, and providing guidance on available services, referring individuals to competent agencies when necessary. The role requires close coordination with the Protection Team Leader, reporting urgent situations and risks immediately. Responsibilities also include managing and monitoring assigned cases, ensuring person-centered care, and maintaining complete, updated case files with timely documentation of interventions. Regular reporting to beneficiaries on their case status and actively involving them in their care process is essential. The position involves collecting and recording relevant case information for databases and supporting the preparation of reports on interventions and outcomes. Identifying emerging trends, risks, and gaps in assistance among the resident population is also a key duty, alongside ensuring the confidential treatment of migrant data in compliance with IOM policies.

Education: A university degree in Social Work is preferred, ideally a bachelor's or higher from an accredited institution, coupled with one year of related work experience. A degree in Psychology will be considered if the candidate demonstrates relevant work experience in the field. Membership in the College of Social Workers is considered an advantage.

Work experience: Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders is desirable. Experience working within international organizations, institutions, or non-governmental/governmental organizations is also beneficial. The role requires demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural environment. Proven ability to draft clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports. Solid organizational, facilitation, communication, writing, and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and office software packages, including spreadsheet and database packages. Experience with web-based management systems. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong work ethic and commitment to humanitarian principles.
